Rhythm Club

Rhythm Club Records began as a reissue project. Many of these titles were produced for vinyl, in the day when studios were very analog, and very expensive. In the 70s, if you didn't have a label, your band died in the water. The big labels ruled the airwaves, and they blocked many smaller labels from being heard on the radio. My ex-husband and musical partner, Avis Davis and I were able to produce our first single, No More Nukes, after chasing a record deal for what seemed like EONS!! Immediately after our release, our luck turned around, and we were invited to play big festivals. Ornery little college radio stations, like the one that students ran out of MIT up in Cambridge, and listener supported stations like WBAI in NYC played our stuff as well as did independent minded deejays like Vin Scelsa from WNEW. The Yippies sent us out to do Rock Against Racism and pot legalization festivals in Texas and Georgia and Ohio. We began to play to bigger audiences, despite the big boys not wanting to share the ball. The corporates also blocked smaller labels from being distributed, and we were lucky to get Sunshine, who put us in as many ma and pa stores as possible, leading us to the #7 position in the indie charts that year (Rock Lobster was #1...)...

Now that I've gotten hold of some tapes, Avis Davis's material, and the material that we did together, as well as some of my records. I hope to release some of my Dad's material (he was a swing era jazz singer) and maybe even some things from my son Jesse, and various and sundry friends.

Nowadays, I tell people my label is Ebay, but in truth, it's Rhythm Club. I hope you'll enjoy some of this material that goes from garage to glamor.
